Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez visits Fidel Castro on his 80th birthday as he recovers from surgery
The two leftist presidents appeared to exchange jokes
Cuban state TV has shown video of Fidel Castro recovering from his operation in the company of his brother Raul and Hugo Chavez of Venezuela.

Lying in bed, the Cuban president smiles and shakes hands with Mr Chavez, a close ally, as they celebrate his 80th birthday.

The photos show gifts being exchanged and the two leaders eating what Granma called a "frugal snack".
